Facebook are keeping us on our toes again by making the new look Timeline compulsory. Up until now, people have had seven days to ‘play around’ with it before deciding to keep it however Facebook have now announced that it will be compulsory for its’ 800 millions of users within the next couple of weeks!

What is Timeline?

If you haven’t seen it, the Timeline allows users to create a more visually impactful profile and the ability to share the story of their whole lives.

Social Apps

The new social apps will allow you to express who you are through all the things that you do — the music you love, the recipes you enjoy, the runs you take, and more.

The general opinion online is mixed. Some people are understandably upset about the forced change which as you can see is dramatically different.

What do you think? Do you like the new Timeline?

Facebook have today agreed to tighten their privacy controls as part of a settlement with US regulators over abuse of user data.

This all started back in 2009 when Facebook changed settings to make public details users may have deemed private. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has admitted that the company had made a “bunch of mistakes”.

The Federal Trade Commimssion said Facebook, which has 800 million users, had agreed to get consumers’ approval before changing the way it shares their data.

Hopefully this will renew confidence among the Facebook user population that their information will not be shared beyond the privacy settings that they have established.

What do you think?

Facebook announced last night that they are rolling out a major update to its Facebook pages. Pages are getting an updated layout and several new features which aim to help you engage with your fans. Here’s a summary of the changes:

Notifications when fans interact with your page or posts

A place to showcase photos along the top of your page

A news feed for your page

The ability to Like and post on other pages as your page (finally!!)

The good news for all page admins out there is that you can preview your page and see how the changes will impact you before you upgrade. You have the option to upgrade early but it’s worth noting that all pages will automatically be upgraded on March 10 2011.

Click hear to read more about these changes and also preview your page(s).

Although it will take some time for everyone to to get used to the new page layout, it’s great to see that Facebook are listening to its users and making the changes we’ve all been asking for! So get previewing your page and let me what do you think of the changes?
